This department of the Bratislava City Library specialises in non-fiction (history, psychology, sociology, management etc.).
Readers are offered basic technical and non-fiction literature on a loan basis and technical literature, specialised and educational magazines and daily press in a reading room (reference only).
Department for the Blind and Partially Sighted, Klariská 16 (map)
This department offers services free of charge to blind or visually impaired people. As a barrier-free entry from the courtyard, there is an elevator equipped with audio signals.
Young Readers´Section, Kapucínska 3 (map)
This section of the Bratislava City Library specialises in literature for children and young adults aged 3 to 18. The library collection, which is based on an access to shelves, consists of folding picture books, picture books, fairy tales, rhymes for children, novels, stories, adventure and history books, travelogues for children, Slovak and foreign fiction for children, compulsory and recommended books for primary and secondary schools, books from different scientific fields, literature in foreign languages (German, English, French, Russian).
Music and Arts Department, Kapucínska 1 (map)
This section of the Bratislava City Library specialises in music and fine art literature. Readers have partial access to the library collection (ground floor, studying room, music studio), while the remainder of the collection is situated in a store.
The library collection includes: books on music, fine art, architecture, history of civilisation and literary theory; magazines specialising in music, fine art, literature; musical materials, including notes by Slovak and foreign composers; and audio recordings and special documents (CDs, gramophone records, cassettes etc).
Fiction and Foreign Languages Section, Laurinská 5 (map)
This section of the Bratislava City Library specialises in fiction and literature in foreign languages.
Readers have access to shelves to select from variety of fiction and non-fiction literature and literature in foreign languages, plus a reading room with technical literature, magazines and daily press (reference only).
The library collection includes foreign fiction, Slovak and Czech prose and poetry, compulsory and recommended secondary school literature, books about the city of Bratislava, books written in foreign languages, foreign language courses and textbooks, educational and non-fiction literature from different scientific fields (including literature in foreign languages), and educational magazines and daily press.
